Global Covenant of Mayors Actively Participates in the IV National Meeting of Mayors of ABM
Brasília, November 3, 2023 – The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy will actively participate in the IV National Meeting of Municipalities organized by the Brazilian Association of Municipalities (ABM), taking place from November 7 to 9 at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center in Brasília/DF. This event will bring together mayors from all over Brazil and Latin America committed to the fight against climate change and access to secure and sustainable energy.
During the event, the Brazilian Association of Municipalities, the Alziras Institute, the National Mayors Front, and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, national coordinators of the Global Covenant of Mayors in Brazil, will join forces with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, and the Officer of the Delegation of the European Union in Brazil, Stephanie Horel. The event will also host the President of the National Association of Municipalities and Environment (ANAMMA), Marçal Fortes Silveira, the Secretary of Environmental and Territorial Management of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, Ceiça Pitaguary, and Patricia Menezes from the SDGs Brazil Network.
The IV National Meeting of Municipalities will offer a unique opportunity to discuss progress in local climate action in Brazil. During the event, the national coordinators of the Covenant will award cities signatory to the Covenant, recognizing the advances of Brazilian municipalities in the themes of climate adaptation and mitigation carried out under the Global Covenant of Mayors.
