The Permanent Forum of National Coordinators of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy facilitated cooperation between the Cities for Life Forum, of Peru, and the Argentine Network of Municipalities against Climate Change (RAMCC). This approach led to a cycle of webinars in which local governments of Peru and Argentina share experiences on their actions against climate change.
The theme of the first meeting was “Health, solid waste and climate action” and had the participation of five speakers: the specialist in solid waste management from Recicla Lima, Magdalena Sotelo; Magnadela’s manager of sustainable development and environmental management, Pamela Vivanco; Arequipa’s Deputy Manager for Environmental Management, Rosalía Coaguila; the director of the environment for the municipality of Rauch, Diana Bacigalupe; and the undersecretary of environment and climate action of Paraná, Vanessa Zehnder.
The next meetings will be held on September 22 and 29 and will address the topics “Recreational spaces and openings, sovereignty, food security and climate action” and “Sustainable mobility and urban planning: climate action”. The courses are open to technicians from local governments in Latin America. To participate, register: https://forms.gle/ByLCSAUfUrduDzzB9
