COP26 is the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference. This year, the 26th annual summit is taking place in Glasgow, Scotland.
For nearly three decades, the UN has been bringing together almost every country in the world for global climate summits, called COPs, which stands for “Conference of the Parties.” During this time, climate change has shifted from being a marginal issue to a global priority.
In the lead-up to COP26, the United Kingdom engaged in discussions with all nations to reach an agreement on how to tackle climate change. World leaders are gathered in Scotland, along with tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses, and citizens.
The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), along with its partners, will be hosting various events. Below are more details about each of them:
