CDP to hold webinar to support cities in 2026 climate reporting
The Portuguese-language session will take place on August 12 and will present evaluation criteria, methodology updates and resources to strengthen reporting by cities and states
CDP, in partnership with GCoM Latin America, will hold the webinar “Everything You Need to Know to Boost Your CDP Report in 2026” on August 12nd. Two sessions are planned: one in Portuguese at 11:00 a.m. (Brazil time) and one in Spanish at 11:00 a.m. (Brazil time), both aimed at cities and states seeking to improve the quality of their climate reports.
The meeting is part of the 2026 CDP reporting cycle and will provide local governments with an opportunity to understand the main criteria of CDP’s scoring methodology, the changes in the 2026 methodology compared with 2025, the map of updates to this year’s questionnaire and the resources available to make the reporting process simpler and more complete.
The session is intended both for cities and states seeking to receive a CDP assessment for the first time and for those that have participated in previous reporting cycles and wish to better understand how to improve their assessment, strengthen the quality of reported data and advance subnational climate management.

2026 reporting cycle
The 2026 reporting platform is now open for signatory cities of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy in Latin America (GCoM). Local governments have until October 26 to submit their information and advance in the GCoM climate journey.
Reporting is a key step for cities to register their progress in mitigation, adaptation and energy, strengthen the transparency of their climate actions and move forward on the GCoM recognition pathway, including the opportunity to receive medals.
To receive a CDP score, cities and states must submit their completed questionnaire through the CDP platform by the week of September 16. The general reporting cycle will remain open until October 26.
About CDP and climate reporting
CDP is a global nonprofit organization that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system for companies, capital markets, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.
Through the CDP-ICLEI Track, cities can report climate and environmental data to different global initiatives that request information from local governments, including GCoM. The platform serves as a mechanism to track local climate progress and helps cities organize information, understand their impacts, identify progress and strengthen their planning capacities.
In the context of local governments, reporting allows cities, states and regions to share climate and environmental data, track their progress and strengthen the transparency of their actions in response to climate change.
Within the GCoM framework, this process also makes it possible to monitor cities’ progress on their commitments to reduce or limit greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for the effects of climate change and expand access to sustainable energy.
Reporting is a key step to transform climate data into planning, monitoring, recognition and local action.
