A system for Estimating Greenhouse Gas Emissions (SEEG Municipalities) compiles complete emission data for all Brazilian municipalities; AdaptaBrasil provides data on climate and information on impact risks.
SEEG Municipalities is an initiative of the Climate Observatory that has data on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in all Brazilian states and the Federal District in the period from 1970 to 2019, for all sectors. As of its launch, the system becomes an ally towards affirmative actions to reduce these emissions.
Now the data can be accessed by anyone in a simple and accessible way through the system’s website and are available for consultation by the municipalities, aiming to assist in the elaboration of studies and public policies in pursuit of guaranteeing sustainable development through the reduction of GHG emissions.
In addition to the complete database, details on the methodology applied in the survey can also be found on the portal, the step by step of the production of estimates, how the quality analysis is carried out, various infographics showing the evolution of emissions in Brazil and several other relevant content.
It is the first time that the data survey is done covering the 5,570 Brazilian municipalities and the data is even more important for cities that do not have the technical capacity to produce quality data. The project is funded by the European Union in Brazil and OAKFoundation. It also has a partnership with ICLEI South America, Climate Observatory, IPAM, Institute of Energy and Environment, Imaflora Brasil and Imazon.

AdaptaBrasil
The Information and Analysis System on the Impacts of Climate Change (AdaptaBrasil MCTI) aims to integrate and disseminate information on the progress of the analysis of the impacts of climate change, observed in the national territory.
Established by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations in October 2020, the system also seeks to promote subsidies to the authorities responsible for adaptation actions.
On the platform it is possible to find analysis of updated information on the climate and the risks of impacts in Brazil. Through an interactive map it is possible to locate the risks of impact on water, food and energy security in Brazilian states, allowing anyone to obtain not only current data but also future projections.
The data presented are taken from the National Water Agency (ANA), the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the National Space Research Institute (INPE), the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), the Ministries of Health, Citizenship, Environment, Regional Development and 15 other bodies and entities.
AdaptaBrasil MCTI is developed through a cooperation between the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and the National Research and Education Network (RNP), being promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI). The system guarantees accessibility with the resources of translation in sign language and tools of audio narration.
