The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL) and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) have agreed to carry out a pilot project during 2021 to study the climate action plans of three cities in Latin America and the Caribbean that are signatories to the Covenant. This pilot project represents the first step in a longer-term approach aimed at establishing a procedure for analyzing the impact of the climate action plans of Latin American cities. Despite the increasing number of cities with such plans, the main challenge remains transitioning to action. Therefore, the project focuses on creating tools to analyze current plans, aiming to develop methodologies that provide more precise guidance for the implementation of prioritized mitigation and adaptation measures or actions.
