The pairing started its cooperation in early 2020 following local government changes in the Colombian city after the 2019 elections, suffering the consequences of the confinement by Covid 19. Unable to implement study visits, both cities started their exchanges through online meetings to define common challenges and exchange lessons learned. An activity to highlight is the 1st Open Dialogue to Rethink Tourist Cities post Covid 19 where Malaga joined Madrid, Rome and Genoa to transfer their experiences on the impact of the new normal on tourism considering that EU cities started to face the pandemic before Latin America.
