The Permanent Forum of National Coordinators of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy facilitated cooperation between the Cities for Life Forum in Peru and the Argentine Network of Municipalities against Climate Change (RAMCC). This approach led to a series of webinars in which local governments from Peru and Argentina shared their experiences in addressing climate change.
The first meeting focused on “Health, Solid Waste, and Climate Action” and featured five speakers: Magdalena Sotelo, a solid waste management expert from Recicla Lima; Pamela Vivanco, the manager of sustainable development and environmental management at Magnadela; Rosalía Coaguila, the deputy manager of environmental management in Arequipa; Diana Bacigalupe, the director of the environment department in Rauch municipality; and Vanessa Zehnder, the deputy secretary of the Environment and Climate Action in Paraná.
The upcoming meetings will take place on September 22 and 29, addressing the topics of “Leisure Spaces and Openings, Sovereignty, Food Security, and Climate Action” and “Mobility and Sustainable Urban Planning: Climate Action.” The courses are open to technicians from municipalities in Latin America.
