The city
The city of Godoy Cruz has been committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors since 2016 and has already achieved recognition as a compliant city by obtaining all adaptation and mitigation medals. Mayor Tadeo García Salazar is also a member of the Mayors Forum of Latin America.
Among the examples, it stands out in terms of mitigation the 130 points for separating dry waste, distributed in parks, squares, schools, clubs, sports centers, and neighborhood unions, to promote waste sorting in homes, stores, and industries. Additionally, polyethylene bags have been banned in supermarkets, and the treatment of batteries, low-energy bulbs, and vegetable oil used by the entire local community is facilitated. In this line of thought, the waste separation process at the source began progressively, currently advancing on the main commercial arteries and in six neighborhoods.
