Community of the Covenant

One of the objectives of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy is the creation of a multi-stakeholder community to share knowledge and experiences on the subject and serve as the basis for future progress. We wish to bring together local, regional and national governments, as well as the private sector, the scientific and research community and other institutions involved in climate change issues.

Regional Governance

The regional governance of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in Latin America and the Caribbean (GCoM-LAC), is structured with the support of a broad governance, able to support the signatory municipalities. This structure consists of a Secretariat and a Regional Steering Committee.

Members of the Regional Steering Committee: European Union Delegation in BrazilC40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, ICLEI SAMS, CAF (Latin American Development Bank), CGLU.

National Structures

The National Advisory Committees sare the working groups where the National Strategy is defined each year, seeking to join efforts at the local, regional and national levels and to align to the National Determined Contributions (NDC).

strong>National Coordinators are the organizations through which cities can get involved in the Covenant.

Support Network

The Latin American Secretariat of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy invites parties interested in becoming a Support Network Member to submit your application.

The Support Network Members in each country act, whenever they are required by the municipalities and national coordinators, to support the signatory municipalities of the Covenant in achieving their goals to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to climate vulnerability.
