Santiago, Chile, hosted the first meeting between representatives of RAMCC and the Chilean Network of Municipalities for Climate Change (RedMuniCC) on August 1st and 2nd at the headquarters of the Metropolitan Regional Government of Santiago.<\/p>\n
Local governments in neighboring countries, Argentina and Chile, are demonstrating leadership in the race against climate change. In this context, representatives from both organizations played a key role in an activity where experiences in climate planning, implemented actions, and financing alternatives were discussed.<\/p>\n
In the context of strengthening actions to meet the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), the discussions primarily focused on the possibilities of increasing local commitment and identifying barriers to expedite climate action.<\/p>\n
Representing RAMCC were Mayor Pablo Corsalino of P\u00e9rez, Mayor Jorge Fern\u00e1ndez of Tilisarao, Communal President Alejandro Luciani of Soldini, Secretary of Environment and Public Works of the city of Godoy Cruz Diego Coronel, Institutional Relations Manager of RAMCC Florencia Mitchell, and Juan Manuel Aguilar, a member of RAMCC’s technical team.<\/p>\n
From RedMuniCC, representatives from the municipalities of Renca, Santiago, Providencia, Pe\u00f1alol\u00e9n, Vitacura; Mayor Graciela Ort\u00fazar Novoa of Lampa, and Mayor Gonzalo Dur\u00e1n Baronti of Independencia were present.<\/p>\n
The organization of the activity was carried out by Adapt-Chile, represented by its director Jordan Harris, Vice-Director P\u00eda Hevia, and Project Coordinator Carolina Eing.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Gladys Santis from the Climate Change office of the Ministry of the Environment of Chile was present, and the virtual participation of Soledad Aguilar, the National Director of Climate Change of the Republic of Argentina.<\/p>\n
The activity was supported by the Avina Foundation and the Euroclima Plus program, funded by the European Union.<\/p>\n
