At the meeting, they discussed the participation of municipalities and local governments in achieving broader goals against climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together representatives and mayors from various Brazilian municipalities with the aim of joining the cities or reaffirming their commitments to the Global Covenant of Mayors. On this important occasion, 33 cities signed the Commitment Letter or reaffirmed their adherence: Aracaju (SE), Bel\u00e9m (PA), Belo Horizonte (MG), Boa Vista (RR), Bras\u00edlia (DF), Campinas (SP), Campo Grande (MS), Canoas (RS), C\u00e1ceres (MT), Cariacica (ES), Curitiba (PR), Curvelo (MG), Florian\u00f3polis (SC), Fortaleza (CE), Goi\u00e2nia (GO), Jaguari\u00fana (SP), Jo\u00e3o Pessoa (PB), Macap\u00e1 (AP), Macei\u00f3 (AL), Manaus (AM), Natal (RN), Niter\u00f3i (RJ), Palmas (TO), Porto Alegre (RS), Porto Velho (RO), Presidente Prudente (SP), Recife (PE), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Salvador (BA), S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds (MA), Uberaba (MG), Vit\u00f3ria (ES), and Igarassu (PE).<\/p>\n<p>These municipalities took the first step to join the international community in favor of adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change.
